What Do You Do When?

Edit Post
I’ve wanted to do this post for a while now and was finally prompted to pose this question by an exercise in our marriage small group for this week. I wanted to ask for your perspectives before writing my own thoughts later this week.
The question is this:
Here are some possibilities to consider of what a husband should do at that point:
The question is this:
What do you do when you and your spouse are simply unable to agree on a decision that needs to be made?In asking this I’m assuming the normal proposed compromises, prayers and conversations have all already taken place, but there is still an impasse.
Here are some possibilities to consider of what a husband should do at that point:
- Wait for her to agree
- Wait until God changes either person’s mind in the matter.
- Give in for the sake of keeping the “peace”
- Make the decision based on his convictions
- How you actually handle this in your own marriage?
- How do you think it should be handled?

Excellent question--and the crux of the issue about authority in marriage. Both people cannot get their way all the time. At some point, someone has to give in--or they both make separate decisions and go their separate ways.
My thoughts on this grew into their own blog post in response: Decision Time
